Birthday thoughts

By Marc the DJ
Happy 2nd Birthday to us at Indiecation! What a Birthday Party - our fullest ever Indiecation. That was one gigantic fun night! I was gobsmacked, when I stuck my head out of the door and the queue was half way down Duke Street! Funny when we started we had no idea that it prove to be so successful. Indie music after many years in the wilderness was becoming popular again but we were only on one floor at Le Bateau and some weeks particularly over the summer we were down to three men and a dog admittedly an alternative dog with a love of big noisy guitars and a fuzzbox for a tail but it was still pretty empty but a year later... what a difference!

Indiecation, I think this is the best club I've ever DJ'ed at because you can play such a diverse range of tracks and everybody is really knowledgeable and friendly and up for whatever we play! Also when it's packed it has an electric atmosphere that I bet is not rivalled by many other clubs around the country! I like the way bands like Foals, Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong, Courteeners are coming through but you can mix them all about with loads of other stuff. Mind you... how hot and sweaty was it in there on the Birthday? Even with air con full on down in my DJ Box I was bloody melting! I had to keep going out for a breadth of fresh air just to cool down but better hot and full than empty and freezing! Say hello when you come and leave a request on a Friday... we don't bite well Vicky might... if provoked! (Only joking Vicky).

I loved the Birthday on Friday 10th of October 2007 not only because of the party which was amazing but because we also launched the new Indiecation website at www.indiecation.co.uk . There are loads more features to be added but we hope you are enjoying it as much as we are - go on get your photos and profile up there, let us see who we've got coming into the place? Now you've got a blog you can now leave us a message and give us some feedback! So just do it!

Did you like your Indiecation Goodie bags? The stress guitar was ace wasn't it! O.K. what's on at Indiecation this week... yeah we got loads of really ace and massive Libertines posters to give away plus an album playback of the Libertines Best of Album 'Time of Heroes'... you can hear that upstairs with Steeley from about quarter to 11 onwards... ask him for a poster! See you all Friday - ciao bambinos!

Marc
